Job Helper for LinkedIn
A JavaScript browser extension, tested with Playwright, that checks if a Singapore job fits you
Browser extension for job seekers in Singapore that reads each LinkedIn job post and answers one question before you apply: can I get this job? It checks your experience, education, and work pass against what the post asks for, and its pay against the MOM S Pass and Employment Pass minimums.
How I built it
Wrote a Manifest V3 extension in plain JavaScript with no libraries and no build step, so the code Mozilla reviews is the code that runs. The core is a set of parsers that read job posts the way recruiters write them: salaries like $3,500/mo, 110K SGD/yr, or $25/hr turned into SGD a month, with other currencies skipped so they never pass an SGD minimum by accident; years of experience in digits or words, with "up to" and "preferred" read correctly; education from N Level to Degree; and the wording that rules out a work pass holder. To read a full post without touching your session, it fetches LinkedIn's public job page with cookies left off, one request every 1.5 seconds, and backs off for a minute when LinkedIn returns HTTP 429.
Outcome
One Manifest V3 codebase, published on the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons and at version 1.3.0. Every job card gets one line (Fits you, Stretch, or Can't apply, with the reason), and the open job gets a fit report whose lines jump to the sentence they came from. 202 tests guard it: parser unit tests, Playwright runs of the page script and popup, and an upgrade test that checks a new version keeps everything you saved.
