Methanol Bunkering Safety VR Training
A Unity training simulation for maritime safety research
Enterprise research · no public link
Interactive VR training simulation for maritime emergency response and clean fuel handling, built with Unity for safety research at SP CEMS.
How I built it
I designed a modular C# state machine so maritime safety trainers could set up multi-step emergency drills with strict step prerequisites. I built controller interactions using Unity's XR Interaction Toolkit and OculusXR, and optimised LODs and draw-call batching to maintain a steady 90 FPS directly on Meta Quest headsets without a PC tether.
Outcome
The simulation was used across 12 lab sessions over 11 months at CEMS. I also wrote setup guides and troubleshooting notes so research staff could run sessions independently without an engineer on call.
